Topic: What Do You Fear?

Memorise: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” – Ecclesiastes 12:13

Read: Luke 12:4-5

4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 27-28, 2 Timothy 4

MESSAGE:

It is very important to respect our elders and those that are ahead of us, however we shouldn’t confuses respect with fear. Luke 12:5 tells us to be careful of whom we fear. Treat everyone respectfully and politely, but never fear them such that you won’t be able to say no to them when they ask you to do anything that is against your Christian standards. The three Hebrew boys respected their king and lived by his rules since they were in his kingdom, however, the moment they were told to bow to him, they didn’t because they knew it was wrong to bow to any other god but the only true God. They could have feared the king and the consequences of disobeying him, but instead, they politely told the king that they could not bow to him because it will be against the tenets of their belief.

No one should ever make you do something wrong just because you are afraid of what they will do to you. No matter how elderly a person is, they shouldn’t send you to steal and you would. No one should ever bully you into pranking your teacher. You shouldn’t keep quiet out of fear if one of your teachers of the opposite sex touches you inappropriately. The Bible says we haven’t been given the spirit of fear. Fear no man.

Key Point: Never compromise your Christian values for the fear of man.

Hymn 11: Stand up! Stand up for Jesus

  1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
    Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner,
    It must not suffer loss.
    From victory unto victory
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.

2.Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.

  1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own.
    Put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    Where duty calls, or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  2. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song.
    To him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.
