Topic: An Excellent Spirit
Memorise: Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. – Daniel 6:3
Read: Daniel 6:1-3
1 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
MESSAGE:
Excellence is the attainment of the highest level of perfection in anything you do. It means performing in a class of your own. Excellence takes hard work, it entails going the extra mile, and it means setting a goal to be achieved at an appointed time and surpassing that goal even before the expiration of the given time frame. Those who flock with people who are not focused cannot be excellent. This is what Daniel and the three Hebrew boys understood at a tender age in a strange land, so they separated themselves from others. They remained focused and then became a force to be reckoned with.
However, the spirit of excellence makes you achieve feats that others wouldn’t dare. This is because the spirit of excellence is from God. When you spend time in the presence of God, you will be a carrier of His presence which will make you different from others. His presence will also give you understanding of deep things. This would make you excellent in all that you do. Do you want to excel? Be like Daniel.
Prayer Point:
Father as I spend quality time in your presence, please give me a spirit of excellence

Hymn: Take My Life, And Let It Be
Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.
Take my will and make it
Thine It shall be no longer mine;
Take my heart, it is Thine own
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
