Topic: Attitude To Work

Memorise: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:10

Bible Reading: Proverbs 24:30-34

  1. I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
  2. And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
  3. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
  4. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
  5. So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man

Bible Reading In One Year: 1 Chronicles 23-25, John 11:1-57

MESSAGE:

The first vice we see in a sluggard is his negative attitude to work. He hates work. He will be happy if he could live without working. According to researchers, one of the differences between the rich and the poor is their attitude to work. While the rich enjoy what they do, the poor hate what they do and would keep wishing that they were doing nothing.

As a student, it is common knowledge that you tend to fail or have poor grades in subjects you dislike than in those like. You are a sluggard if you hate work and as long as you hate whatever you are doing, you cannot put in your best or bring out the best result from it. Ecclesiastes 9:10 says:

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”

Love your work, love your studies and give your might to it. Always put your best foot forward. Whatever you give your best all shot to will surely deliver its best to you. Remember, Jesus said even God the Father works and He (Jesus) works too (John 5:1-47:17).

What is your attitude towards your obligations? Replace every negative attitude with godly positive ones today.

Hymn: When We Walk With The Lord

1.When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way,
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

2.Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away,
Not a doubt or a fear,
Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3.Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay,
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5.Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
