Open Heaven For Teens Tuesday 30 March 2021 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: Guard Your Eyes
MEMORISE: I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid? Job 31:1
READ: Matthew 6:22-23
- The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
- But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 1-2, Luke 7:1-50
MESSAGE:
The eyes are a doorway to the mind and whatever ones mind continually thinks about, one will eventually do. If you will attain purity you must be intentional about guarding your eyes. Be careful about the types of movies you watch, books you read, magazines you view and the internet sites you visit. Some adults have become violent because when they were younger, they watched horror movies and now they get wild in response to any provocation.
Also, you must guard your eyes from looking at the opposite sex in a sexual manner. There are some ladies who dress seductively to make children of God commit fornication with them. My boy, like Joseph ran from Potiphar’s wife, run away from those who want to destroy your glorious destiny.
There are times you’re genuinely searching for information online only to have dating and pornographic sites pop up; the Holy Spirit will caution you not to view those sites, please obey Him. If you have self-restraint, you will be careful about what you feed your eyes with because what you see is what you will meditate on and what you meditate on is what you will become.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, help me to guard the gate of my eyes.
HYMN 11: In Christ Alone My Hope Is Found
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song,
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone! Who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on the cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
