TOPIC: Be A Good Example

MEMORISE: Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend. 1 Corinthians 8:13

READ: John 13:15

15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Chronicles 8-10, John 8:37-59

MESSAGE:

In today’s memory verse, Apostle Paul says that he had the freedom to eat meat but he chose not to because he didn’t want any of his followers to stumble. What a good example! As a child of God, you must realize that God has called you to be a good example to others. 1 Corinthians 6:12 says:

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any”

Apostle Paul in the passage above reiterated that though he had the freedom to do whatever he liked, he wouldn’t because he chose not to be controlled by anything. Irrespective of your age, there are people looking up to you. Be a good example to them. Imagine you read on social media that I slapped a Pastor. I’m sure you won’t be interested in what the pastor did but you would be disappointed in me. Just like me, you’re the Bible that unbelievers read, so, be a good example on the street, in church, at home, in the supermarket, school and everywhere.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, please help me to be Your true ambassador everywhere I go.

HYMN: MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE

My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.

May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire.

While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll,
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul.
