Open Heavens for Teens Monday 29 July 2019 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
Topic: The Internet and You
Memorise: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” – 1 Corinthians 6:12.
Read: 1 Corinthians 6:11-14
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
Bible In One Year: Psalm 56-58, Acts 28:1-15
MESSAGE:
With the emergence of the internet, the world has been reduced to a global village thereby facilitating communication amongst people around the world. Wonderful as this development is, it must be used with caution.
What exactly do you do with the internet? The internet has the power to give greater expression to whoever you are on the inside, it all depends on what you do with it. Are you all about games, watching movies, chatting 24/7, cyber bullying, stalking people, looking for celebrity gist, or are you doing researches? Expanding your knowledge in your chosen field, studying to enhance field your talent and skills, registering for healthy competitions to challenge you mind? The internet is destroying many teenagers without them realising it; they spend time on it idly, whereas their lives are being shaped by it.
Key Point: Don’t just use the internet, use it consciously
Hymn 7: I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice
1 I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
