Topic: A Friend Of God?

Memorise: Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:14

Read: John 15:15

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Bible In One Year: Zechariah 10-12; Revelation 20:1-15

MESSAGE:

You are not too young to be called a friend of God. In fact, if you have a very good relationship with God, you can be called His friend because He cherishes relationships. God loves His children so much and wants to be involved in every aspect of their lives. There are however many things taking teenagers away from the love of God these days. One of it is social media. When you wake up in the morning and the first thing you pick is your cell phone and not your Bible, you are not qualified to be called a friend of God. As a friend of God, you must do the things that God likes because you wouldn’t want your Friend (God) to be upset with you.

Abraham had such an intimate relationship with God that he was considered a friend of God. His absolute trust in God and obedience to Him earned him the title friend of God. James 2:23 says:

“And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”

Key Point:

You want to be a friend of God? Learn from Abraham.

Hymn: To God Be The Glory, Great Things He Hath Done

To God be the glory, great
things He hath done,
So loved He the world
that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an
atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate
that all may go in.

Chorus:
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father,
Through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory,
Great things He hath done.

Oh, perfect redemption,
the purchase of blood,
To every believer the
promise of God;
The vilest offender who
truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a
pardon receives.

Great things He hath taught us,
Great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing
through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and
greater will be
Our wonder, our transport,
when Jesus we see.
