Topic — Initiative: A Leadership Trait
Memorise: For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 1 Peter 2:21
Bible Reading: Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
MESSAGE:
Another lesson to learn from the ants is that they have high initiative. Proverbs 6:7 says they do not need guides, overseers or rulers to achieve their goals. For you to be without external direction and still achieve laudable goals and objectives, you must have a good dose of initiative. Initiative refers to the ability to know what is appropriate to do, and doing it without being told.
lf you must succeed in life, you must have initiative. This virtue distinguishes the men from the boys, managers from subordinates, the outstanding from the mediocre. If you see something going wrong and cannot take a step to prevent or correct it, you may simply be lacking initiative.
The fellow who always awaits orders before knowing what to do may never amount to anything in life. Those with initiative think ahead. They think for their leaders. They are proactive. They complain less but act more. They are problem solvers.
Are you a child with initiative?, Then you will complete assignments, take steps to forestall problems and answer unasked questions without being told.
Key Point:
A person with initiative will develop into a great thinker, inventor or creator.
Hymn 13:
1.I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining everyday;
Still praying as I onward bound
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Chorus:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table-land;
Where love, and joy, and light abound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher
ground.
2.My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise, and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound,
My constant aim is higher ground.
3.Beyond the mist I fain would rise,
To rest beneath unclouded skies,
Above earth’s turmoil peace is found
By those who dwell on higher ground.
4.I long to scale the utmost height,
Though rough the way, and hard the fight,
My song, while climbing, shall resound
Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
5.Lord, lead me up the mountain side
I dare not climb without my Guide;
And, heaven gained, I’ll gaze around,
With grateful heart from higher ground.
