Open Heaven For Teens Tuesday 28 December 2021 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: The Spy Next Door
MEMORISE: A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. Proverbs 29:1
READ: Luke 2:46-51 (KJV)
And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Zechariah 7-9 , Revelation 19:1-21
MESSAGE:
In today’s Bible reading, after looking for Jesus for some days, His parents found Him interacting with doctors and professors of the law. When His parents rebuked Him for putting them through so much trouble, Jesus answered that He was busy going about His Fathers business. No one understood Him except His mother who kept all the sayings in her heart. This shows that since the angel appeared to Mary before the conception of Jesus, she didn’t reveal the child’s true identity to anyone. She kept many things to herself till the manifestation took place.
There are spiritual spies everywhere who monitor the progress of God’s children; they only prevail over those who talk faster than their brains. Some teenagers set traps for themselves through careless words; they spill everything in their minds that should have been kept. My dear, you can minimize your troubles in life if you learn to control your mouth. Not everyone who says he or she is your friend is actually a true one. Be careful.
KEY POINT:
The less you talk, the less spies know about you.
HYMN: Christian Seek Not Yet Repose
Christian, seek not yet repose,
Hear thy guardian angel say,
“Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray!
Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thine unguarded hours:
“Watch and pray!
Gird thy heavenly armour on,
Wear it every night and day,
Ambushed lies the evil one:
“Watch and pray!
Hear the victors who overcame;
Still they mark each warrior’s way,
All with one sweet voice exclaim,
“Watch and pray!
Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart His word,
“Watch and pray!
Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may be sent down:
“Watch and pray!”
