Open Heaven For Teens Tuesday 15 March 2022 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: Maker Of Morning Darkness
MEMORISE: For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. Amos 4:13
READ: Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 15:1-47, Deuteronomy 26-27
MESSAGE:
One of the many questions I want to ask God when I get to Heaven is, which type of light did He call into manifestation on the first day? The Bible records that the first thing He said was, let there be light but now, the sun which He made on the fourth day gives us light in the day, while the moon and stars rule the night. Many Bible scholars have said that Jesus is the Maker of Morning darkness, translating the statement to mean that the light that God called forth in Genesis 1:3 was a physical manifestation of Christs glory. Whether I get an answer or not, the fact remains that the whole creation story is a clear manifestation of the creativity and splendour of God. Amos 5:8 says:
“Seek Him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.”
Jesus is the only One who can shine His light into the darkness in anyone’s life. Cry out to Him today if you’re experiencing darkness in any area of your life.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please banish darkness from my life and give me lasting joy.
HYMN: Now We Thank We All Our God
Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
in whom His world rejoices;
Who from our mothers’ arms
hath blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.
O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
to keep us in His grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son and Him who reigns
With them in highest heaven
the One Eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.
