MESSAGE:

There is more to learning than just listening to teachers or lecturers in a formal environment. The extra learning can be gotten by participating or actively watching the practical aspect of what you are currently studying in the school through volunteering. Volunteering in the area of your passion or course of study is the best way to gather experience and develop expertise before you complete your education (your graduation).

Many graduates are jobless today because employers are looking for experienced applicants. Rather than stay at home watching movies or visiting friends, add value to your life, use your holidays wisely by volunteering in non-governmental organisations, religious organisations and private businesses. Learn from the organization and help to achieve their goals through your skills. The experience you will get may come in handy when answering examination questions and place you ahead of students who only read textbooks. Don’t be so money-conscious that you miss out on upgrading yourself by serving others.

ACTION POINT: Search for an organization where you can volunteer during your next holiday.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

There shall be showers of
blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be
seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.

Chorus
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of
blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of
blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honour Thy
Word.

There shall be showers of
blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God
we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

There shall be showers
of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be
seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.
