Open Heaven For Teens Sunday 7 November 2021 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: Judging Others?
MEMORISE: Judge not, that ye be not judged. Matthew 7:1
READ: James 2:13
For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 46-48, Hebrews 4:1-16
MESSAGE:
Many people judge themselves periodically but judge others consistently. While they are mild on themselves and make excuses for their own actions, they are hard on others and make no room for them. It’s an act of wickedness when you judge others by their actions but judge yourself by your intention. For instance, Lady A castigated lady B for forgetting her Bible at home during service, she said that lady B had become forgetful of the things of God and was now tilting towards worldliness. But some days after, lady A got angry at a fellow church member to the point of exchanging slaps. Thus, between ladies A and B, who is actually worldly?
Don’t be quick to judge others because God, the Ultimate Judge is watching you so that He can also use the same yardstick you have used for others to judge you (Matthew 7:2). If you don’t give others a second chance, you may not get another chance yourself.
KEY POINT:
If you don’t show mercy, do not think people are wicked when they fail to show you mercy.
HYMN: Amazing Grace
1 Amazing grace (how sweet the sound)
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.
2 ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
how precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!
3 Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come:
’tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
and grace will lead me home.
4 The Lord has promised good to me,
his word my hope secures;
he will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.
5 Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease:
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.
6 The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
the sun forbear to shine;
but God, who called me here below,
will be forever mine.
