TOPIC: Ignore Insults

MEMORISE: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me… Galatians 2:20

READ: Galatians 2:19-20

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 16; Exodus 4-6

MESSAGE:

Just being in this world puts you in a position where you can be insulted. In fact, as humans with different mindsets, behaviours and understanding capacities, we perceive things differently. A response that could be settled by just saying sorry could lead into an argument and then to malice. Therefore, as a child of God, you must have a shock absorber for insults.

As you grow older, you’ll realize that you may not be able to control those who insult you but rather, how you react to them. Sometimes, you don’t even have to do or say anything before someone insults you. For example, I have worked on myself so much that, when someone makes rude or bad comments in the media about the Redeemed Christian Church of God, I don’t respond. I always tell my children that wise and mature people ignore insults. If you always respond to everything done or said to you, then you need to be broken by the Holy Spirit

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to know how and when to talk, as well as when not to.

HYMN: I Need Thee Every Hour

I need Thee every hour
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.

Chorus
I need Thee, Oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee!
Oh, bless me now my Saviour;
I come to thee!

I need thee every hour,
Stay thou near by;
Temptations lose their power
When thou art nigh.

I need thee every hour
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide
Or life is vain.

I need Thee every hour
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill.

I need Thee every hour,
Most Holy one;
Oh, make me Thine indeed,
Thou blessed Son!
