MEMORISE: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
READ: 3 John 1:2
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 62-64, Romans 1:1-32
MESSAGE:
When Jesus was about to be crucified, the Roman Soldiers gave Him 40 strokes of the whip of thorns on the way to Calvary. He bore the pains and hurt because of us. Several years ago, I read from a book that the worlds sicknesses and diseases are categorized into 39 groups. This means Jesus already took a stripe for each category and went a step further because He knew some new diseases would still spring up. So, the last stripe He took covers the 40th category of newly discovered diseases such as Ebola, Lassa fever, Corona virus et cetera.
Theologians say that the whip used in flogging Jesus had a handle which had several long branches. At the end of each were tied sharp objects like broken bottles. One swing of the whip went round His body and stuck to it. As the soldier pulled it out, it dug into his flesh and tore it. One stroke was equal to about 15, yet He took 40. He suffered that much because of you, therefore, you must reject any pain, sickness or disease and claim your victory in Christ Jesus. Are you battling a health challenge or currently overtaken by a sickness or disease? I decree that you are free in Jesus name.
KEY POINT: Spend ten minutes praying for the healing of those sick around you.
HYMN: What A Friend We Have In Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear;
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer
Oh! what peace we often forfeit,
Oh! what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrow share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise,
forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take
and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
