Open Heaven For Teens Monday 29 November 2021 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: Greater
MEMORISE: “Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion”. Isaiah 8:18
READ: Genesis 26:12-16
Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 41-42, 2 Peter 1:1-21
MESSAGE:
The Bible tells us that Isaac was greater than his father, Abraham but he did certain things. The first time Isaac registered himself for greatness before God was when he willingly gave himself up to be offered as a sacrifice in Genesis 22:7.
I’m sure a twenty-first century teenager would have given his 100 year old dad a tough jab and taken to his heels the moment he was about to be tied. Spiritually, Isaac surrendered himself to God. He let go of his will, understanding and strength in order to follow his fathers lead. Are you willing to surrender all to your Father (God), so that He can make you who He wants you to be in your generation?Another way Isaac became great was that he sowed in a strange land. He had been taught by his father, to offer sacrifices unto God in form of giving. He could have relaxed seeing no one was watching but it had already become his pattern. The Bible records that though Abraham was greatly blessed, Isaac became great, and continued until he became very great. My dear child, you can become greater than your parents if you surrender your life to Jesus and give Him your all from today.
ACTION POINT:
With God, you can be greater than your parents.
HYMN: All To Jesus I Surrender
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live
Chorus:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His name!
