Topic: Idleness, The Devil’s Workshop

Memorise: “By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.” – Ecclesiastes 10:18

Read: 1 Thessalonians 3:11-12

11.Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

12.And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 14-16, Mark 13:14-37

MESSAGE:

Idleness is something you should avoid at all cost. It has no advantage, rather many disadvantages because it creates a seat for the devil in the life of an individual. An idle person is the devil’s workshop; first, he suggests evil thoughts to the person which may be eventually carried out, the result is usually bad.

Idleness makes you a gossip (1 Timothy 5:13). Same young ones are always on social media these days because they are idle. They comment on every issue and join in insulting people in authority. You shouldn’t be in this category as a child of God and the best way to avoid being idle is getting busy. Spend your spare time being productive. For instance, when you are on holiday, go on godly summer camps, go for holiday coaching. You can also acquire a new skill or get better at the one you have acquired before. Another way to spend your holiday wisely is to volunteer to work in an establishment, you will not only add value to yourself, but also to others.

Key Point: Don’t be the devil’s workshop.

Hymn 2: When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word

  1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove the delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
