Open Heavens for Teens Sunday 20 October 2019 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye

Topic: Deceived Into Destruction

Memorise: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” – Proverbs 14:12

Read: Proverbs 14:7-12

7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.

12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 3-4, 2 Thessalonians 3

MESSAGE:

There is an interesting story in the bible of a young child who became a King and had counsellors who were elders. Whenever the elders advised him, he who take the matter to his friends who would then advise him wrongly and it was always their bad advice that he went for. Before long, he had scattered the nation and destroyed his own destiny.

Who are your friends? Who are those you take advice from? As a teenager, you can’t be as wise as your parents, neither can you be wise than God, so you should check with the word of God before you take any action, and you should stay obedient to your parents.

If you have friends who frequently lure you into sin, run from them because they are the channel through which the devil will eventually destroy you. Take advice from one godly people. If a any advice you get is not in line with the WOR of God, reject it. Your destiny is too previous to toyed with.

Prayer Point: Father, give me the grace to differentiate between a bad advice and as good one.

Hymn 10:

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged;

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

Can we find a Friend so faithful?

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness,

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In His arms He’ll take and shield You;

You wilt find a solace there.
