Topic Choices

Memorise: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.” – Isaiah 30:21

Read: Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Bible In One Year: Joshua 23-24, Luke 6:27-49

MESSAGE:

People make choices all the time, consciously and unconsciously. When you wake up in the morning, you decide what to eat or what to wear or what time to step out of the house or what time to study and for how long. All these decisions might seem trivial, but believe me honestly, the choices you make concerning these ‘trivial’ issues eventually have a large effect on bigger things. It is wisdom to consciously make the right choices no matter how little the issue at hand might seem.

The first secret to making the right choices is knowing where you are going to. When you know your destination, it will be easy to choose your direction. If your destination is ‘best student in my class’, then the decisions you will make should lead to that. Also, you have to consciously choose your values. Your values are your principles or standard of behavior. Deciding for example that you will not be amongst those always hanging around the school compound during school hours will help you know if you are making a wrong choice when gisting with someone under a tree during school hours.

Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, please help me to always make the right choices from now on in Jesus’ name.

Hymn 14: O spread the tidings ’round,

1 O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and
Human woes abound.
Let every Christian tongue
Proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Chorus:
The Comforter has come!
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n,
The Father’s Promise giv’n,
O spread the tidings ’round,
Wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2 The long, long night is past;
The morning breaks at last;
And hushed the dreadful wail
And fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills
The day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

3 Lo, the great Kings of Kings,
With healing in His wings,
To every captive soul a full
Deliv’rance brings;
And thro’ the vacant cells
The song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

4 O boundless love divine!
How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell
The matchless grace divine-
That I, a child of hell,
Should in His image shine?
The Comforter has come!
