Topic: Beyond Intimidation

Memorise: “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:31

Read: 2 Chronicles 20:15-17

15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

Bible In One Year: 1 Kings 14-15, John 1:1-28

MESSAGE:

While some believers are still being tossed here and there by every wave of threat, only few are beyond threats. A lot can happen in 24 hours. In Acts 12:5-11, God sent an angel to deliver Peter from prison 24 hours to his execution. God turned the critical Samaritan dryness into abundance within 24 hours (2 Kings 7). This is why Jesus says you should not be worried or anxious about tomorrow. Your tomorrow will definitely be alright.

Your life is not in any man’s hand, but God’s. Your promotion, success and victory are all in Christ. Nobody can kill you before your time. If they have tried for so long to kill you, they can never succeed. Only pitch your tent in Jesus, the Source and Owner of your life. As a child of God who fears God, you have no one else to fear (Psalm 27:1). If you however refuse to fear God, the devil and his agents will cause you to fear them through unpleasant situations. You can live beyond threats and intimidation if you can submit to God completely.

Key Point: Stay connected to God at all times and the devil will have no hold on you.

Hymn 6: Our God, our help in ages past

1. Our God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Our shelter from the stormy blast,

And our eternal home:

2. Under the shadow of your throne

Your saints have dwelt secure;

Sufficient is your arm alone,

And our defense is sure

3. Before the hills in order stood

Or earth received its frame,

From everlasting you are God,

To endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages in your sight

Are like an evening gone

Short as the watch that ends the night

Before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,

Soon bears us all away;

We fly forgotten, as a dream

Does at the opening day.

6. Our God, our help in ages past,

Our hope for years to come,

Still be our guard while troubles last,

And our eternal home!
