Teens Open Heavens 17 November Daily Devotional written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: SELF OR GOD
Memorise: For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. 2 Timothy 3:2
Read: Luke 22:42 (KJV)
Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 16, Hebrews 12
MESSAGE:
If you take a look at the signs of these last days, you will notice that selfishness and self-centeredness play a major role. A life that is given to pleasure is a self-centered life. Are you a self-lover or a God lover? If you love God, He will be uppermost in your thoughts, deeds and plans, while everything else will be secondary. Pleasing God will be your focus and you will not mind the cost.
If you are God centered, you will want to know His will for your life in every area. In situations where you express your personal will, it will be subject to that of God. Where there is a conflict between you will and God’s will, you will yield to God’s will for your life like it happened with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:39-49). Be a God love not a self-lover.
Prayer Point: Father, I yield completely to Your Spirit form today. Please have Your way in my life.
Hymn 7:
1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
