Topic: Peacemaker?

Memorise: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9

Read: Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV)

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Bible In One Year: Nehemiah 4-6, Acts 2:14-47

MESSAGE:

In every setting, there are different kinds of people. Some people start fight, some people fuel fights, some just watch the fight from afar, while others make peace. In your classroom, home and church, which of these categories do you belong to?

When you see two people in a heated argument, do you take sides with one and fuel the argument or do you try to make peace between them? When your dad and your mum are quarrelling, do you use the opportunity to get closer to the one that will give you money or do you arrange scenarios that will facilitate peace between them? Don’t forget that being a peacemaker is a sure way to God’s blessings according to Matthew 5:9. A peace maker is God’s own child. So by implication, those who fuel strife are children of the devil and are not blessed. Be a peacemaker from now henceforth.

Action Point: When next you are confronted with a situation where you are tempered to fight or raise your voice, choose to be the peacemaker!

Hymn 13:
1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

2. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying
The Savior who died on the cross?

3. Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the word of salvation
To those who are dying in sin?

4. We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from known sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.
