MESSAGE

Generally, teens form their character by what they learn unconsciously from the people they live or associate with. In most cases, children learn from their parents because they are the first example of influence; they imitate their behaviour, actions, dressing, manner of speech et cetera. As natural as this is, children of God must be intentional about what they emulate or imitate. If you have been told or observed that you exhibit a bad attitude which you clearly copied from either of your parents, its best to take it to God in prayers. However, you have to make conscious efforts to break free of the habit.

Ephesians 5:1 says “Be ye followers of God.” The word followers means to be an imitator and it is a command to every child of God. We are to learn all we can about God and imitate His attributes such as love, truthfulness, kindness, forgiveness et cetera. These are behaviours fit for believers. The more you seek to know God, the more you unconsciously grow and become like Him.

ACTION POINT:
Prayerfully note and stop the bad habits you exhibit.

HYMN: NEARER, MY GOD

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to thee!
E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down,
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee!

There let the way appear, steps unto heaven;
All that Thou sendest me, in mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee!

Then with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee!

Or if, on joyful wing cleaving the sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee;
Nearer to Thee!
