TOPIC: A Light That Shines

MEMORISE: And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:5

READ: Proverbs 4:18

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 26:20-54, Leviticus 13

MESSAGE:

Light shines brighter when there is darkness. Do you know that the best place to shine as light is among sinners? Jesus didn’t call you light so that you can shine only in your house or Church, you are to shine everywhere, especially amongst sinners. Thus, when relating with them in your school, neighbourhood or public places, let your light shine so that they can see Jesus and be converted.

Indeed, your light will illuminate more when you keep associating with fellow lights, that is, children of God like yourself. How beautiful would it be to have a true child of God in every family of the world who will shine as light to win his/her family to Christ? This was my initial drive when I newly became the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Before then, I had told God that I didn’t want to be an ordinary Christian and that He should empower me to shine as His light. Thus when I saw an advert that said at least a member of each family in the world must drink Coca Cola, the idea that at least one member of every family in the world must be a member of our Church popped into my mind. This is the bedrock of the aggressive evangelism and other projects in the ministry today. The more we shine as light, the more people join us to become light.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, use me to illuminate my world. Let people come to Jesus through me.

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

While passing through this world of sin,
And others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within,
Let others see Jesus in you.

CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it through and through;
Say, does it point them to the skies,
Do others see Jesus in you?

What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
In mansions beyond the blue,
To find some souls that you have won;
Let others see Jesus in you.

Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave, and true,
And lead the lost to life and light;
Let others see Jesus in you.
