Open Heaven For Teens 26 January 2022 Daily Devotional was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
TOPIC: Kill Not
MEMORISE: Thou shall not kill. Exodus 20:13
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 18:21-35; Exodus 11-12
READ: Hebrews 4:15-16
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
MESSAGE:
When a child of God commits sin, he/she falls short of God’s glory but when he/she genuinely repents like the prodigal son did in Luke 15:21, God will forgive. However, if you commit a sexual sin and it results in an unwanted pregnancy, never consider abortion as an option. God detests abortion because it involves the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:16-17). The Bible says “thou shall not kill”.
No matter how dark and desperate your situation may be, find encouragement in the story of Hagar in Genesis 16. Hagar was Sarah’s maid who was ill-treated after she had a child for Abraham. She later grew in her understanding of God during her pregnancy and sought His face for help. God saw her distress, made a plan for her and her baby, and provided for all their needs. You too can be forgiven by God and your parents. Don’t allow the fear of what your parents will do to you make you kill an innocent soul. Instead, ask God to forgive you, ask Him for the grace to trust Him. Ask Him to provide all that you and the baby need. Also, seek counselling from a godly and mature Christian.
KEY POINT:
Aborting a pregnancy is murder. Don’t be a murderer.
HYMN: Nearer, My God To Thee
Nearer, my God to Thee,
Nearer to Thee;
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,(2ce)
Nearer to Thee!
Though, like the wanderer,
The sun gone down,
Darkness be over me,
My rest a stone,
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,(2ce)
Nearer to Thee
There let the way appear
Steps unto heaven;
All that Thou send’st to me
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,(2ce)
Nearer to Thee
Then with my waking thoughts
Bright with thy praise,
Out of my stony grief
Bethel I’ll raise;
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God to thee,(2ce)
Nearer to Thee!
Or if on joyful wing
Cleaving thy sky,
Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
Upwards I fly
Still all my songs shall be,
Nearer my God to thee,(2ce)
Nearer to Thee!
