MEMORISE: Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Isaiah 1:16
BIBLE TEXT: Psalms 51:10
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 17-19, 1 Timothy 6:1-21
MESSAGE:
When we were young believers, we were taught to always keep our house clean because God may pay us a visit anytime. After Bible study that day, though Daddy, the children and I were tired from the days activities, we made sure that we swept out underneath our beds and cleaned the house before retiring for the night.
Many believers think God is only looking at the spirit man; He also looks at the outward. Some ladies take time to apply make-up, wear beautiful dresses and perfumes but if you visit their rooms, you will be disgusted. So also some boys, they package themselves well when going on an outing but their room is in contrast with their handsomeness.
If you can’t tidy up your room when you’re young, it means you will be a dirty adult whose bungalow or storey building will be laced with cobwebs and odour.
A way to ensure cleanliness is by making sure you arrange your sitting room, wash dirty plates and pots and flush your toilets after use et cetera. If I’m to visit your house today and I’m greeted with an odour, that first visit may be my last.
KEY POINT: Dirtiness is an act of laziness and not condoned by God.
HYMN: When We Walk With The Lord
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who
will trust and obey.
CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while
we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and
obey.
But we never can prove
The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
For the favour He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust
and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in
the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and
obey.
