MEMORISE: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1

READ: Hebrews 12:1-3

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 5-6, 1 Timothy 1:1-20

MESSAGE:

Every child of God running the Christian race has no privacy. Why? We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses in heaven comprising of heroes of faith and believers who walked with God while on earth. If you too walk like they did, you would become a reference point and motivation to those who will later come to Jesus Christ. This is the reason you have to be careful how you run this race.

Some years ago, I planned to visit a church in Philadelphia. The female pastor in charge broke the news to her family on reaching home and added that I would be hosted in their home. Suddenly, one of her teenage sons shouted I am in trouble.
The moment Pastor Adeboye enters this house, he would know every evil I have done. But my dear, God is daily in your house watching all you do behind closed doors. Even if you deceive your parents into believing you have a good character when you don’t, you can’t deceive God and the cloud of witnesses watching you. You don’t really have any privacy as long as you’re alive. Therefore, be mindful of your actions when you are behind closed doors.

KEY POINT:

When ever temptations confront you in secret, remember, God is watching!

HYMNS: Christian Seek Not Yet Repose

Christian, seek not yet repose,
Hear thy guardian angel say,
“Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray!

Principalities and powers,
Mustering their unseen array,
Wait for thine unguarded hours:
“Watch and pray!

Gird thy heavenly armour on,
Wear it every night and day,
Ambushed lies the evil one:
“Watch and pray!

Hear the victors
who overcame;
Still they mark each
warrior’s way,
All with one sweet
voice exclaim,
“Watch and pray!

Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
Him thou lovest to obey;
Hide within thy heart
His word,
“Watch and pray!

Watch, as if on that alone
Hung the issue of the day;
Pray, that help may
be sent down:
“Watch and pray!”
