TOPIC: Putting God In A Box?

MEMORISE: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

READ: 1 Kings 19:11-13

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 34-35, Acts 22:1-30

MESSAGE:

In Today’s Bible reading, Elijah relayed His plight to God; his life was in great danger. Jezebel vowed that she would kill him because he killed 450 prophets of Baal. Elijah expected God to step into the matter quickly but the Bible says there was a great wind, an earthquake and a fire but God was not in any of them. In what area are you expecting God to show up big? He will definitely do so, but it may not be the way you expect.

In 2 Kings 5:1-30, the prophet of God told Captain Naaman to go wash in a river seven times. Naaman complained. He had expected the man of God to just pray and the sickness would vanish. Thank God there were people around who encouraged him to do as instructed, otherwise, Naaman would have died a leper.

God desires to do many things for His children but you must be open minded to receive your miracle. There are times He will say “study to show yourself approved unto God” and another time, He would say, “not by works but my grace is sufficient for you”. God works in mysterious ways which may be something completely opposite of your expectations.

KEY POINT: Stop limiting God, His ways are far from yours.

HYMN: I’VE FOUND A FRIEND IN JESUS

1 I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to
my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him
alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make
me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in
trouble He’s my stay;
He tells me every care on
Him to roll.
He’s the Lily of the Valley, the
Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand
to my soul.

2 He all my griefs has taken,
and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He’s my strong
and mighty tow’r;
I’ve all for Him forsaken,
and all my idols torn
From my heart and now
He keeps me by His pow’r.
Though all the world
forsake me,
and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely
reach the goal.

3 He’ll never, never leave me,
nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith
and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me,
I’ve nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my
hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to
see His blessed face,
Where rivers of delight
shall ever roll.
