Topic: True Love

Memorise: If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4:20

Read: 1 John 4:19-21

  1. We love him, because he first loved us.
  2. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
  3. And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Bible In One Year: Ezekiel 10-12; Hebrews 11:1-40

MESSAGE:

God is love and He first loved us. This love He has demonstrated to us by sending His only Begotten Son to die for the sins of the whole world. Gods love towards man remains unbeatable. However, God expects us to love fellow humans just the way he loves us. Loving others the way He loves us doesn’t necessarily mean laying down our lives the way He did, but going out of our comfort zones if need be.

It is unfortunate that the Christians of this generation think only of themselves. In those days, there was true love amongst brethren. A brother who had more shirts than the other would naturally package the extra shirt for the brother in need without anyone knowing. These days, people want to be loved yet show no love. God expects us to show love and you can do this by helping anyone in need without being asked. Matthew 25:35 tells us how to show love to God through humans. If you truly love that fellow, you wont sit back and backbite or gossip about him. Remember, there are only two commandments, love the Lord your God and love your neighbour as yourself.

Key Point:

If a man says he loves God and hates his brother, he is a liar and all liars shall go to hell.

Hymns: Take My Life , And Let It Be

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moment and days
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee

3.Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.

4.Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.

5.Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer be mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,

6.Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At They feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
