Topic: What God Cannot Do
Memorise: For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Hebrews 6:10
Bible Reading: Hebrews 6:17-19
- Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
- That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
- Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Bible Reading In One Year: Jeremiah 40-42; Hebrews 2:1-18
MESSAGE:
Luke 1:37 and some other Bible passages say all things are possible with God. However, one of the things impossible with God is falsehood. God can never lie. Hebrews 6:18 says:
“That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.”
God is the embodiment of truth. He is bound to keep His words. So if He has made you or your family any promise, as long as you remain in faith, obedience and holiness, it will come to pass.
Similarly, God cannot be unrighteous. He cannot violate His word because His word is settled forever in Heaven. Its unfortunate that some fellows ask God to violate His word. For instance, praying not to get caught while cheating in an exam is asking God to violate His words. When you ask God to protect you from being caught while engaging in any sinful act, you are asking for the impossible. If you have been getting away with such, don’t think God has been supporting you, you will soon be exposed if you don’t repent.
Action Point:
Ask that your eyes understanding be enlightened through the knowledge of His word.
Hymn: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing
There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Saviour above.
Chorus:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honour Thy Word.
There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.
