Topic: Don’t Be Wasteful

Memorise: He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. Proverbs 18:9

Bible Reading: John 6:8-12

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Bible Reading In One Year: Job 31-32; Acts 13:1-52

MESSAGE:

Our heavenly Father does not like waste. He expects us to carefully use everything we have. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt from today’s Bible reading and one of them is that God evidently dislikes wastage. A large crowd of people came to Jesus to hear the word. They had sat patiently with Him for a while, and then Jesus sensed their need for food so, He asked the disciples to get them food. He was later informed that all they had was five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jesus took the food and gave thanks, thereafter, asked them to share. When the crowd had eaten, He still asked the disciples to gather the remnant in baskets so that nothing would waste. It is evident that God doesn’t like waste. If you read through the story of the talents, God took the talent back from the one who hid his talent and refused to profit with it. He did this because the servant was allowing it waste away.

Don’t be wasteful. If you have the habit of keeping light bulbs on when not in use, spend money on unnecessary things, take more than the portion of food you can eat and then have left over, leave the water running when not in use et cetera, you are wasteful. Desist from wastefulness from today.

Key Point:

Always remember that someone is need of what you have in excess.

Hymn: Is Your Life A Channel Of Blessing?

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God
flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Saviour?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying,
The Saviour who died on the cross?
Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it daily telling for Him?

Have you spoken the word of salvation
To those who are dying in sin?
We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from all sins;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.
